This January, UA Little Rock hosted the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees meeting. During the meeting, UA Little Rock Chancellor Dr. Christina Drale played a video—featuring the brand new COSMOS Research Center—that offered an in-depth look at COSMOS’ groundbreaking research and the center’s innovative work. In early February, the COSMOS Research Center welcomed UA Little Rock Chancellor Drale and UA System President Jay Silveria for a tour of its new offices, student lab area, and conference rooms. Their visit was part of a broader exploration of UA Little Rock campus and its research centers, including COSMOS and the Center for Simulation Innovation. During the tour, Prof. Nitin Agarwal introduced President Silveria to COSMOS’s pioneering research on social computing, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Science Foundation.
Cosmographers Make a Big Splash at the 58th HICSS 2025!
The Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) is an annual event that has been convening since 1968, providing a collaborative platform for scholars and professionals in information systems and technology from over 60 countries. The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and the presentation of peer-reviewed research across various domains, including information, computer, and system sciences.
Research Spotlight: Role of Symbolic Communication on Algorithmic Bias
In this month’s research spotlight, we highlight recent research from COSMOS that focuses on symbolic content, a study named “Examining the Impact of Symbolic Content on YouTube’s Recommendation System.” This study was published and presented recently at the 2024 International Conference on Complex Networks & their Applications (CNA 2024), which took place from December 10 to 12, 2024, in Istanbul, Turkey.
