There is a new addition to the COSMOS family! We hired a new full-time Data Engineer, Dinesh Ramadugu! Dinesh shares what attracted him to COSMOS and what his aspirations and goals are.

What is your name, and what role do you play at COSMOS?

My name is Dinesh Ramadugu, and I work as a Data Engineer at the COSMOS Research Center. In my role, I develop efficient data pipelines to support data-driven research.

Can you share a bit about your professional background and experience?

I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, I worked on different projects. where I focus on building and maintaining systems that help collect, store, and process large amounts of data efficiently. My background includes working with technologies like Python, SQL, and cloud platforms.

Were there specific aspects of COSMOS culture or mission that resonated with you?

I was really attracted by COSMOS’s mission to use data science for social good, especially its focus on addressing real-world challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration. That aligns closely with my own passion for meaningful, purpose-driven work. 

Are there any specific skills or experiences you’re looking to gain?

I’m keen on developing deeper expertise in AI and machine learning, particularly in applying these technologies to solve real-world problems.

Is there anything that stood out to you during your onboarding process?

The onboarding process was very welcoming and collaborative from day one.

How do you see yourself growing professionally within COSMOS?

I see myself growing at COSMOS by taking on challenging projects that push me to apply and expand my skills in AI and machine learning. I also hope to collaborate with researchers from different fields.

Based on your experience, what advice would you give to someone starting a new role at COSMOS?

I would say come in with an open mind and be ready to learn. There’s a lot of exciting, meaningful work happening at COSMOS. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, the team is supportive and values collaboration.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure or fictional character, who would it be and why?

I would love to have dinner with Iron Man because he’s a genius who mixes science with style and I’d love to pick his brain about how he built all that cool tech. Plus, his sarcasm would make the conversation unforgettable.
