This edition of the newsletter shares the academic journey of one of our recent graduates, Tenzing Briggs, and what the future holds for him. Tenzing graduated with a master’s in professional and technical writing, with a concentration in publishing, and worked as a graduate research assistant at the COSMOS Research Center.
“I am proud of the accomplishments and the various contributions Tenzing has made to the COSMOS Research Center. We all celebrate his academic journey and wish him the best in the next chapter of his career” said Prof. Agarwal.

Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Tenzing Briggs, and I’ve just received my master’s of arts in Professional and Technical Writing (PTW). I grew up in the Ozarks, and while I hadn’t planned on attending UA Little Rock, returning to the Little Rock area has been a breath of fresh air.
What was your inspiration for joining COSMOS?
COSMOS publishes an awe-inspiring amount of research in the social computing, information, and computer science fields. When I entered the PTW program, I knew I wanted to gain more experience in science writing; and when I heard of COSMOS, I was inspired by the opportunity to further my science writing through work as an editor at COSMOS.
How has COSMOS helped in your journey?
COSMOS has given me the opportunity to learn practical, hands-on proofreading and copyediting skills in a fast, dynamic environment. Work at COSMOS has challenged me to expand my skill set in design and editing, and it has helped me gain important skills that will help boost me to wherever my career takes me after graduation.
How has Prof. Agarwal’s mentorship helped you in your graduate studies?
Prof. Agarwal’s mentorship has challenged me to learn things outside my usual domain, such as complex concepts and research in the computer and information sciences.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to continue work at COSMOS as a researcher, designer, and editor for COSMOS Center. I also plan on looking towards publishing and editing opportunities in Little Rock and Conway.
What is your fondest memory as a Cosmographer?
My fondest memory was when I first joined in 2023, when Prof. Agarwal hosted the whole COSMOS team for a picnic in west Little Rock, complete with playing tennis. I loved meeting COSMOS’ diverse cast, playing tennis with everyone, and enjoying great food!
What advice would you give to your fellow Cosmographers?
Spread your wings! The COSMOS team is made up of such talent, and I look forward to seeing the breakthroughs COSMOS will continue to make in the immediate and further future.
