Meet Deepika Kurapati, a Graduate Research student at COSMOS.

Please introduce yourself.

My name is Deepika Kurapati. I am from Hyderabad, India, and I am pursuing a Master’s in Information Science at UALR. Additionally, I work as a UI/UX designer at COSMOS.

What was your inspiration for joining COSMOS?

I have always wanted to create intuitive, easy-to-use, enjoyable user interfaces. With this goal in mind, I have started learning UI tools and have been working on improving my design skills. Joining COSMOS has provided me with an opportunity to work on designing, which has inspired me to pursue my passion further.

Are you working on any papers or publications? Can you share any insights into the topic?

I joined COSMOS recently and I am currently not working on any papers or publications.

What makes you feel the most appreciated and understood?

I feel most appreciated when I am recognized for my work and receive positive feedback from my supervisor and colleagues.

What is something you like to do outside of school/work?

Outside school, I mostly watch BTS (K-pop band name) videos and concerts and explore new cafes and restaurants nearby.

What would you tell your younger self?

If given a chance to talk to my younger self, I would advise myself to be kind and not be too hard on myself. It’s okay to make mistakes, and it’s essential to learn from them.

What is a big world problem that you would like to change?

Every year, we see a massive increase in the number of people suffering from chronic hunger worldwide, so I would like to address the problems of hunger and food insecurity.
